"You Did It!"

You finally scheduled the date and time for your first pageant photo shoot! Now to the hard part, what should you bring and how should you prepare for it?

You want your child to look his/her best so you can capture that winning shot. Talk to your photographer ahead of time and make sure there won't be any surprises. Make sure that you understand the way that they charge:

* If there is a sitting fee, does it include any proofs or prints?

* How long will it take to get your proofs back?

* How long will it take to get your actual prints after you order?

* Is hair and make-up included or does it cost extra?

* Should you bring your daughter in hair rollers, or does the hair/make-up artist roll her hair?

* How many looks (outfit changes) can you expect per roll?

* Is adding a hat to an outfit counted as one look?

These are all questions that you should ask BEFORE the day of the photo shoot! I always tell my clients to bring 5-6 outfits per roll so that we can pick and choose together. Take a lot of hair accessories (hats, headbands, scrunchies, barettes, butterfly clips.) Your photographer or hair/make-up artist may have some on hand but remember, you want your picture to be different than someone else's!

For Black & White pictures, color doesn't matter but texture and pattern does. Plaids, checkers and fur are always winners with Black & White. Remember, if you are going to do portfolio shots, put on your thinking cap and come up with a good theme for your photo! The more creative and different...the better!! Bring out your child's personality.

Other considerations: You want to be sure that your child is well rested and has a full tummy for the photo shoot. And try to arrive a few minutes early so that he/she can feel more comfortable around the photographer.

Most of all, try to have fun! It will show in the photographs.
